Georgetown Hospital Foundation

The Georgetown Hospital is a partner with Oakville and Milton Hospitals which work under the umbrella corporation of Halton Healthcare. However, each hospital has its own Foundation which is responsible for raising the funds needed to equip their hospital. Hospital equipment and building renovations are generally not funded by the Provincial government.

In 2013 Georgetown Hospital opened its new expanded Emergency Room and Diagnostic Imaging Departments. At that time a state-of-the-art CT Scanner was purchased and installed through funds raised in the community.

Now it is time to replace the aging X-Ray suite with modern up-to-date digital technology that will allow for rapid sharing of x-rays across the hospital sites to facilitate diagnosis.

The Georgetown Foundation is launching Project X, a $1.5  million dollar campaign to acquire new digital x-ray technology for the hospital.

“X-ray and diagnostic imaging is essentially the backbone of the entire hospital. Whether you have a broken bone, pneumonia or are having a surgical procedure, x-ray technology will probably be involved in your diagnosis and care. Fast access to high quality images means we can provide care in a timely manner,” notes Dr. Michael Zettler, Georgetown Hospital Emergency Department Physician.

Fundraising has begun in the community and the Halton Hills Community Bike Challenge has signed on to help raise the necessary funds. At the halfway point of the Bike Challenge donors will make good on their pledges which collectively represents $10,000. At the completion of the Bike Challenge donors will make a further collective donation of $35,000. In total the Bike Challenge cyclists will have participated in raising $45,000 towards the purchase of this badly needed technology to better serve our patients.

The Georgetown Hospital Foundation and Hospital staff thanks all the cyclists and Bike Challenge donors for this much need donation towards better healthcare in our community. We would particularly like to thank the following donors:
